- Solange and Claire, who have been working under the Lady for many years, are living the last minutes of the game in which they hold on to life. They decided to kill the Lady, whom they loved as if they were worshiping, to whom they had no respect, and to whom they owed their existence. Jean Genet's Maids, first staged in 1947, is undoubtedly one of the most prominent, most controversial and groundbreaking texts of twentieth-century Western literature. Servants, which has continued to be one of the most staged plays all over the world since the day it was written, has been brought to the stage with countless interpretations that challenge its possibilities and has been the subject of many readings and research in the context of text and representation. According to Jean-Paul Sartre, the Maids, who are the perfect example of Genet literature, have a completely different place and importance as they bring together almost all the founding elements of this literature. The trio formed by Solange, Claire and the Lady are tested by deciding whether to go beyond their defined roles on the night when violence prepares to take the helm and hand over all control to death. The Servants, who have to turn their desires into a game of illusion, disguise themselves, and deny their own existence while trying to do their job perfectly due to the pressure caused by their social identities, question and question the definition of innocence and sin in this final ceremony, on the unknown border of Good and Evil. According to Sartre, Good in Maids is just an illusion. Evil is a Void that builds itself on the ruins of Good. The main focus of the Maids, whose almost every sentence has multiple layers of meaning, contains a very complex, intertwined labyrinth of discourse behind its flat appearance, and can be enriched with brand new interpretations even today, is perhaps above all, to love.
