  • **The edition of the book you will buy may be different from the one in the image. Transformation, first published in the monthly magazine Die Weissen Blaetter in 1915, is Kafka's longest and most well-known story and is still among the most read books all over the world, almost a century after its publication. In the letter he sent to Felice Bauer on October 17, 1912, Kafka writes that he was working on an American novel, and when he saw that he could not progress, he got bored and could not get out of bed, so he wanted to take a break by writing a story. This is how transformation occurs. The Transformation, which begins with Gregor Samsa, a fabric marketer, waking up from his sleep turning into a huge insect, gradually turns into a magnificent narrative that pushes the boundaries of reality and fiction.FRANZ KAFKA (1883-1924) Franz Kafka, the child of a Jewish family of Czech origin, was born and raised in Prague in 1883. It experienced the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Coming from a poor, rural Czech family, his father settled in Prague, worked hard and acquired a great fortune over time. His mother is an enlightened and wealthy German Jew. His father became the criterion for many things for Kafka and felt powerless and loser towards him throughout his life. Despite his young writing instinct, he studies law for a profession he can support. After breaking off his engagement to Felice Bauer, he became engaged to Milena Jesenka, but gave up on marriage when he learned that he had tuberculosis while he had not yet decided whether to marry or write. His influences are Charles Dickens, Dostoyevsky and Flaubert. With his stories Wedding Preparations in the Countryside, Depiction of a War, Letter to the Father, Transformation, Judgment, America, Cause, Criminal Colony, Castle, Aphorisms, diaries, letters and other stories, Kafka depicted loneliness and meaninglessness, which are the result of the social mechanisms created by all times of the past, in a unique style.
