The GPS provides a moving map display with sectional, L-Chart, Garmin Map, and terrain views. It has a full keyboard display on one page, which assists pilots in entering waypoints easily. The TAWS and GPWS audio alerts are also generated from the terrain map stored in the unit's memory. The unit is compatible with Garmin products, including GDL 39, GDL 50 series, GTX 345, and Flight Stream 510, but not with Stratus 3. It also provides worldwide access to multiple areas with the exception of the South Asia Pacific and is updatable for South America. The compact size of the unit is great for use in small aircraft, and the product is packed with many features. Unfortunately, the unit is reported to be not user-friendly or intuitive, which can be disappointing for some users. It is worth noting that accessing actual plates and updates for the GPS requires a monthly payment of $150.
