It does not work without the camera and should be installed on the inside of the windshield behind the rearview mirror. The length of the cable is more than enough to mount the antenna to the windshield away from the camera, and tuck the rest of the cable neatly away in the headliner. Overall, customers seem happy with the product, finding it easy to use and working as it should. The only issue some customers had was with the length of the cable, which they found too long, but this was not a major concern. However, there were a couple of complaints about compatibility with different models of Rexing cameras.
