Made of merino wool, this balaclava is soft, extremely warm, yet breathable and well vented. It comes with a single layer of material that has a lot of stretch and fits under a hat or helmet reasonably well. Customers have reported using it for a wide range of activities, including skiing, snowmobiling, football games, and cycling. It also doesn't block sound noticeably, making it suitable for urban environments. Though this balaclava has a tight fit, it is not uncomfortable, and the face portion stays up around the face when the hood is down. The only downside to this product is that customers have reported that it is not suitable for extremely cold days below the mid-30s F. Overall, this is a well-designed and highly recommended balaclava for moderate cold weather.
