Donna Tartt's "The Secret History" is a fictional novel set at Hampden College in the US in the 1980s, which follows the story of a small group of Classics students and the events that occur that challenge their morality. The book is described as a "whydunit," not a whodunit, and focuses on "Dionysian events and their Consequences in closed and exclusive college settings." Narrated by California transplant Richard, an outsider who is initially on scholarship, we meet the key characters, including the enigmatic Julian Morrow and the potentially psychopathic Henry.
