What is Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant used for?

Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant is primarily used to enhance the buoyancy of fly patterns, making them more effective when fishing. This premium gel is designed specifically for fly fishing, ensuring your flies remain afloat on the water's surface. Its unique formula allows for easy application and a long-lasting effect, making it ideal for various water conditions. Anglers often use it during dry fly fishing opportunities to prevent their flies from sinking, which can hinder catching fish.

How do you apply Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant?

To apply Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant, simply squeeze a small amount onto your fly, focusing on the areas that require buoyancy. The gel can be easily spread using your fingers or the applicator tip provided. This floatant is designed to absorb quickly, ensuring that your fly maintains its intended presentation on the water. For best results, anglers typically apply the gel before casting and may reapply as necessary, especially after catching fish or after the fly has been wet.

Is Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant safe for fish?

Yes, Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant is formulated to be safe for fish and the aquatic environment. This eco-friendly product does not contain harmful chemicals that could negatively impact fish health or the ecosystem. It's important for anglers to consider the environmental impact of the products they use, and Aquel offers a responsible choice to ensure a sustainable fishing experience without compromising on performance.

Can Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant be used with all types of flies?

Yes, Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant is versatile and can be used with a variety of fly types, including dry flies, terrestrial patterns, and some nymphs. Its ability to enhance the buoyancy of different flies makes it a favorite among anglers. However, for optimal use, it's best suited for flies that require surface presentation, as the floatant is designed to keep them afloat rather than weighted patterns that sink.

What makes Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant different from other floatants?

Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant stands out due to its premium gel formula, which provides superior buoyancy and lasts longer than traditional floatants. The gel consistency ensures that a small amount goes a long way, minimizing the need for frequent reapplication. Unlike many spray floatants that can leave a greasy residue, Aquel dries clear and clean, making it ideal for maintaining the fly's appearance. This quality is particularly beneficial when fishing in clear waters where presentation is key.

How should Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant be stored?

To maintain the performance of Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure the cap is tightly sealed to prevent contamination or drying out. Proper storage helps preserve the gel's consistency and effectiveness over time. Anglers often keep a bottle in their tackle box or fishing vest for easy access during trips. Being mindful of storage conditions will greatly extend the product's shelf life and usability.

Can I use Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant in saltwater fishing?

While Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant is primarily designed for freshwater fishing, it can be used in saltwater conditions as long as the flies are suited for saltwater species. However, it is advisable to rinse the fly after use in saltwater to avoid any corrosion or buildup from salt. Anglers targeting species like striped bass or bonefish may find this floatant useful for maintaining the buoyancy of their flies in saltwater environments.

What is the consistency of Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant?

Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant has a thick, gel-like consistency that allows for easy application without dripping or running off the fly. This viscous formula ensures that the floatant adheres well to the fly fibers and maintains buoyancy even after exposure to water. The gel consistency is particularly beneficial for anglers who need precise control when applying to delicate flies during a fishing trip.

Is Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant biodegradable?

Yes, Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant is designed with environmentally conscious anglers in mind. The formula is biodegradable, which helps minimize the ecological footprint associated with fishing products. This aspect makes it a preferred choice for those who are environmentally aware and wish to fish responsibly. Utilizing biodegradable floatants contributes to the preservation of aquatic environments, ensuring sustainable fishing practices.

While Aquel is noted to change in Consistency depending on temperature—becoming runny in the heat but still usable when cold—the overall Consensus is that it performs reliably across various conditions. Its non-wax formula leaves no visible surfacing rings, an attractive trait for those seeking a natural presentation on the water. The product's ease of application is a Consistent theme, with reviewers appreciating the simple method of rubbing the gel between their fingers before applying it to the fly.
