Static Shock: The Complete First Season is a must-have for fans of the DCAU. This groundbreaking show was ahead of its time and still holds up today. However, the DVD presentation leaves a lot to be desired. While the set is reasonably priced and provides good value, the discs themselves look like they were burned onto DVD-Rs by amateurs. The first disc has better production value than the second, which is essentially a list of episodes with a play all option. The case is flimsy and the second disc falls out easily. Additionally, the discs don't work well in all DVD players, and the back of the box comes with a disclaimer about potential compatibility issues. Despite these problems, the set does include subtitles, which is a plus.
